Saturday, 27th January 2018: The management and staff of Pegasus Reef Hotel Wattala together with special invitees and hotel patrons ceremoniously opened their new, superior quality tennis court at the hotel premises today. The opening ceremony was attended by the Guest of Honor at the event, Mr. Iqbal Bin, the President of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA), Pegasus Reef Hotel Club Members, the media as well as Principals and Heads of Sports representing schools of the vicinity.
The evening was kicked off with an introduction to the initiative by Mr. Ganendran Subramanium, Pegasus Reef Tennis Tournament Director and Head Coach. Mr. Iqbal Bin, the President of the SLTA and Mr. Harsha Jayasinghe, General Manager at Pegasus Reef Hotel had the honor of cutting the ribbonand declaring open the tennis court, inclusive of additional facilities that can be used for competitive as well as casual games of tennis.
Delivering the welcome speech on behalf of Pegasus Reef Hotel, Mr. Jayasinghe stated, “We are thrilled to launch this new tennis court that will no doubt create a great impact among sports lovers and tennis enthusiasts. We have ensured that the court was designed to international accepted superior conditions, guaranteeing exceptional quality tennis matches and tournaments in the future. We invite you all to visit the court and enjoy this new facility.”
The hotel has proactively engaged with the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) to ensure the tennis court can be used for professional tennis tournaments. “This is a great initiative carried by Pegasus Reef Hotel,” commented Mr. Bin. “Now there are more opportunities for school children and tennis fans in this area to experience first class tennis matches and benefit from this facility. These are the types of initiatives that will surely help the game of tennis to
flourish in Sri Lanka.”
