Pegasus Reef Hotel served some mouthwatering German delicacies mixed and matched with a number of local delights at the hotel’s Oktoberfest celebration held on the 27th October to a full gathering of hotel patrons, tourists and hotel guests. With toe-tapping German music to keep the brews flowing, Pegasus Fest highlighted the perfect mix of German and local cuisine to enthrall guests, adapting to Sri Lanka’s now popular food culture.
The chefs were commended by guests for the variety of local sausages and cuisine offered at the Pegasus Fest that simply elevated the German flavors and added to the celebratory atmosphere. Among the special homemade local sausage varieties, the Pegasus Reef pork black curry sausage based on the locality’s famous and much loved succulent black pork curry was a huge hit among the merrymakers.
Other seasonal sausages on offer included traditional German Bockwurst made from ground veal and pork, the mixed-meat Boerewors sausage originating from South Africa and the famed pork lingus sausage. The homemade selection included a spread of lamb and feta cheese sausage, tandoori chicken sausage, beef mustard sausage, spicy pork chorizos, Chinese flavored five-spice pork sausage and Thai chicken spicy sausage.
“We are thrilled with the turnout at Pegasus Fest, and more so with the encouragement and recommendation we received from participants on our local sausage varieties,” commented Harsha Jayasinghe, The General Manager at Pegasus Reef Hotel. “As Sri Lanka’s leading city resort, we always set a high benchmark for ourselves in terms of what we offer our guests, and Pegasus Fest was one such event that we all planned meticulously. We look forward to hosting many more successful events during the coming holiday season.”
